Weather Update - 2/25/12

posted Feb 10, 2012 6:28 PM by Web Master   [ updated ]

This weekend we will be experiencing some extremely high winds. They are predicting wind gusts up to 50 MPH. This could cause tree damage and issues.

Be very careful if you already have broken branches still in the tree's canopy from the October storm. Winds such as these can shake them loose and fall!

The ground is not frozen and very wet. This does not help the tree's root system support them as well as if the ground was frozen. Their "feet" have really been put to the test in the last six months. The one benefit we have in our favor is that the leaves are off the trees, reducing the amount of area that can catch the wind!

Recycle Containers - What? Still Another Size?

If anyone failed to notice, the town newspaper, Rocky Hill Life recently had an article stating that the town has changed its one size fits all recycle bin policy. They now offer a smaller one by calling 860-258-7709.  So, if space is an issue, you can replace the large receptacles with smaller ones that will fit in the garage.
